Clark County Family Services and CASA to Host Foster & CASA Info Night Oct. 14

'Two Paths, One Purpose' runs 6-8 p.m. Oct. 14 at the CASA Connections Center in Las Vegas, with foster caregivers and CASA volunteers sharing their experience.

LAS VEGAS — Clark County Family Services and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) will host "Foster & CASA Info Night: Two Paths, One Purpose" on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the CASA Connections Center, 212 S. Jones Blvd.

The evening includes a community dinner. Experienced foster caregivers and CASA volunteers will talk about the roles they play in a child's life and explain how to get started.

"Whether someone is ready to open their home or give their time as an advocate, there is a place for them in a child's life," said Stacie Dastrup, director of Clark County Family Services.

According to the county, just over 3,600 children are in foster care in Clark County. Family Services estimates the county needs at least 200 more regular licensed foster homes, especially caregivers who can support children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
